CD ideas

This is the finished magazine advert that we came up with, we decided to stick with the simple colours of black, white and red to fit with the album cover.
After looking at a lot of different types of CD covers, not only from acoustic singers but from many different genres of music, our group split into two and each came up with ideas for the front, two midde sections, and back of the CD.

We took into consideration-

  • genre of the music
  • the overall image we were looking for
  • colours/backgrounds and effects
  • the target audience.

After thinking about all these things we first came up with a few different ideas playing around on Photoshop designing different logos and editing the images in different ways. Then looking at the fonts we decided to stick with an old style font and make it so that it looks handwritten, we thought that this would fit with the genre of the music very well instead of a very plain font which would not exaggerate the genre and themes of the music video as much at all.

When thinking of the front cover we wanted to keep it very plain and simple so that all the focus is on the artist and not on the editing or images surrounding the artist on the cover, in a typical acoustic style we kept the image of the front cover black and white to again keep it simple and also to go with the black and white memory clips included in the music video.

Here is the first album cover our pair came up with-

After looking at this album cover we decided that this did not fit well with the music video as you could not tell that the two were related. This is when we decided to do a location shot with the actor in the music video just simply stood against a wall to stick with the simple theme throughout the project. We then found that this worked well with everything else and looked like it links well with the music video. This was when we decided to carry on using these location shots througout the whole of the CD covers.

This is the final CD cover that we came in with-
